Membership

Membership is free to all IDM bona fide IDM students, faculty and staff. External consultants/ lecturers however, borrow materials through their Course Directors. Visiting IDM partners will be assisted as and when need arises. In order to borrow material users are required to bring forth their student cards.

Library Collection

The library holds scholarly books, journal articles, local newspapers, open- access e-books & journals, undergraduate and graduate research projects.

Collections

The library collection is comprised of printed and electronic information resources accessible through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The use of information resources under each collection may differ depending on the type of materials and users’ demand.

Borrowing of Library Materials

Number of items to be borrowed and the loan period are categorized as follows: 

Undergraduate students – 2 - for a period of 7 working days

Graduate students- 3- for a period of 14 working days

However, under special circumstances and after due consultation with the borrower, the Library may recall a book(s) before it is due for return.  Borrowed books may be renewed once only provided that they have not been reserved by another user.

Reference Collection

Library items in this collection are for use within the library and cannot be borrowed out. Items comprises of dictionaries, encyclopedias, newspapers, research projects and other reference materials.

Electronic Collection

The library subscribes to Emerald Insight electronic information resources in form of e-journals, articles, case studies and open access sources. These resources are authenticated and only accessible through the use of username and password.

Computing Area and Equipment

Users may bring their own devices and connect to the Open Wi-Fi network available throughout the library/ campus. Computers in the library are primarily meant for educational, research and scholarly communication purposes (researching for assignments, typing assignments). Microsoft Office software is installed on all the computers.

Library Rules of Conduct

To make your library experience as productive and pleasant as possible, you need to adhere to the following library rules:

Cell phones should be put on silent or vibration within the library and be answered outside the library.

No Library book shall be taken out of the Library without first being presented at the Circulation Desk.

Marking of books with pens or pencils is strictly forbidden.

Books shall not be exchanged amongst users without the knowledge of the Library staff.

Bags, raincoats, umbrella should not be taken to the reading tables but should be left on the shelf by the entrance.

Group discussions are not allowed in the Library as this may disturb other Library users.

Desks and furniture must not be moved without the permission of the Librarian.

Smoking, eating, drinking and chewing of gum are not allowed within the Library.

No notices shall be displayed within the Library or the Library notice board without consultation with the Library staff.
